The Westerville North Symphonic Choir and members of the Notables recently visited the Columbus Symphony Orchestra to listen to the performance of American Festival. These two musical performances are based on important works that help tell the history of African Americans in the United States.
Sanctuary Road is based on the history of the Underground Railroad that helped enslaved African Americans flee from the antebellum South and gain their freedom. It also featured selections from Gershwin's famous Porgy and Bess composition.
