The Westerville North Marching Warriors are in full competition season mode right now. (Along with our regular halftime shows at all varsity Warrior football games throughout the football season!)
On Saturday, September 17, the Marching Warriors travelled to an MSBA event in Bellbrook, Ohio. The band achieved 4th place in Class AA. It was a good learning experience for the band--many of whom are freshman and have never experienced a marching band competition experience before. As always, the Marching Warriors demonstrated their skills and spirit on and off the field. They performed well and they were always ready to cheer on other bands exiting warm up and heading for their performance time in the stadium.
This past Saturday, September 24, the band competed a bit closer to home at the OMEA Grove City Invitational. The band earned a third place rank in Class AA and the Color Guard also earned Best in Class AA and Best Overall trophies as well. And just as significant, the band earned a Superior rating and qualified for the OMEA State Finals at the end of October. The Grove City performance was one of the band's strongest performances yet and shows that all of the weeks of practice is paying off!
(And I love adding entries to the Trophies spreadsheet!)
But it's competition season and the work never stops! This Friday the Play Ball! team will perform at halftime during the Canal Winchester away game. Then on Saturday, October 1 we host our own Westerville Invitational at Jim McCann stadium. Not only will we be host band to all of the OMEA visiting bands from around Ohio, but we get to perform the Play Ball! show with all of our props, baseball uniforms, and everything else for our home crowd. We look forward to another great marching band weekend!
