On Thursday night, 7th- and 8th-grade middle schoolers from across Westerville converged with the "varsity" bands of Westerville North and Westerville South for Middle School band night. These young middle school musicians got a taste of Fall Football. They joined both high school marching bands for late afternoon pre-game practice, a meal provided by the South Music Boosters, and a combined halftime performance.
It did this one band parent's heart good to see so many young musicians stretching across the field during halftime.
Then, after having a day off on Friday, the Marching Band got up in the super early darkness to travel down to the Colerain MSBA competition outside of Cincinnati.
The band performed one of the best instances of their show so far this season and were rewarded with a first-place trophy for MSBA Class AA. We visiting parents and staff--as well as all of the kids--were very happy to be rewarded for their hard work so far this season.
As for what's next?
The band students first concert performance of this year is coming up on Tuesday evening. Then we have Senior Night at Jim McCann stadium on Friday evening. And then on Saturday evening the band travels across I-270 for a marching band competition at Thomas Worthington High School. You can learn more about all of those events on the Upcoming Events section of the Booster Web site.
